FAQs

How can I learn how to write grants?

Grant writing requires time and research. The best way to get started is to attend a basic grant writing workshop. Clear Vision Seminars & Consulting, LLC offers grant writing workshops. Go to our event listing to find the next workshop or contact us for more information.

I am thinking about starting a business, can you write a grant for me?

No, approximately 90% of grants are available to non-profit organizations, schools, governmental agencies and medical facilities. If your business does not fall into one of these categories it will be difficult to secure grant funding. However, you can contact your local city or county government office to see if there are funds available for small businesses. Do your research and make sure you are applying for a grant and not a loan.

Someone told me that I can get a grant to buy a house, is that true?

Yes, that is true to a certain degree. Several non-profit organizations receive funds from HUD (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development) to provide assistance for those seeking homeownership. Funds are generally available for down payment and/or closing costs and not the complete purchase of the home. Generally, there are income criteria and a minimum credit score required to qualify for the assistance. For more information go to www.hud.gov or contact a mortgage lender.

I am looking for a grant to help fund my college education, can you help?

No, unfortunately there are not many grants available for individuals. This is a common misconception and many people spend countless hours and money searching for education grants. The best place to look for education grants is to contact the school that you are planning to attend.

Can I get a degree in grant writing?

To my knowledge, there is no accredited degree available in writing grants. Some helpful fields of study are social work, public health, technical writing, business, or a related field, though some have bachelor's degrees in other subjects such as Administration, Education, English, etc.
